What Our Live-In Carers Provide
Our live-in carers are dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities in every aspect of their lives. Alongside the regular support our live-in carers provide, we specifically help those with learning disabilities build their confidence and independence as well as learn new skills.
Our carers are also trained in managing sensory sensitivities, behavioural challenges, or communication disabilities, giving them the skills and experience to provide the right support.
Every aspect of our service is delivered with respect, empathy, and professionalism, ensuring that individuals receive not only the care they need but also the dignity they deserve.
Our Approach to Care
At VersaCare, we believe that exceptional care is built on understanding, respect, and the right support. Our approach is designed to create a nurturing environment where individuals with learning disabilities can thrive. Here’s what sets us apart:
Personalised Care Plans and Expert Training:
Every individual is unique, and so is their care. We create tailored care plans that reflect each person’s specific needs, preferences, and goals. Our carers undergo ongoing training to stay equipped with the latest skills and techniques, ensuring they provide exceptional and adaptive care.
Perfectly Matched Carers:
Finding the right carer goes beyond skills. We take great care to match individuals with carers who share similar personalities, interests, and hobbies, fostering natural connections and meaningful relationships. Find out more about how we find the perfect carers.
Support with Financial Navigation:
Navigating funding and benefits can be complex, but our team is on hand to help. They’ll guide you through the process, ensuring you access all the financial support and entitlements available to you.
Focus on Building Relationships:
Consistency and trust are at the heart of our care. By pairing individuals with a dedicated live-in carer, we create a stable and reassuring environment where confidence can grow.
Promoting Independence and Empowerment:
We encourage individuals to take an active role, helping them develop new skills, set goals, and work toward achieving them—whether at home, in the community, or in work or volunteering opportunities.
By prioritising personalised support, meaningful relationships, and practical assistance, we empower individuals with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.
Communication
Our carers are trained to support individuals with bespoke communication systems. This includes visual communication systems such as PEC (Picture exchange communication) and visual timetables. Additionally, carers have access to Makaton training sessions for clients that require signing as part of tier communication needs
Sensory
We are able to support clients with their personal sensory diets. Adapting care routines and environments to support sensory needs. Whether this be related to the visceral nervous system, or simply a visual or tactile need, we can provide bespoke support plans to encompass these needs. There is an overarching understanding of ‘stimming’ needs and compulsive urges that are difficult to control or ignore and this is also mapped across to sensory needs and communication needs
Behaviour
We support behavioural needs with a PBS approach (positive behaviour support). Our trainer and Registered manager are trained as PBS practitioners and can create bespoke ‘traffic light’ behaviour support plans that identify triggers and clearly set out steps to support individuals through challenging behaviours and crisis
Tailored Care Plans
At VersaCare, we know that no two individuals are the same, which is why we take a personalised approach to every care plan we create. Our tailored care plans are designed to meet the unique needs, preferences, and aspirations of each individual with learning disabilities.
We work closely with the individual, their family, and any healthcare or support professionals involved. By listening to everyone’s input, we ensure the care plan reflects the person’s goals and provides the right balance of support. We also make sure care plans are adaptable to any changes in requirements and preferences.
Our care plans also follow a holistic approach, addressing emotional and social wellbeing, fostering meaningful connections and encouraging participation in community and social activities. We also give space to develop new skills, build confidence, and achieve their personal goals—whether that’s mastering daily tasks, pursuing hobbies, or preparing for work opportunities.
