Live In Respite Care

VersaCare is on hand to provide live-in respite care so that you can take a well-deserved break knowing your loved one is being looked after by one of our professional, compassionate live-in carers.

Our respite care service

Live-in respite care is a temporary care package that provides cover for you or your loved one within their own home. It allows continual care when the primary caregiver is in need of a break, to meet their own health needs or as an introduction to see whether longer-term live-in care would be beneficial. Live-in respite care can also be used to speed up discharge after a hospital stay, allowing you to recover in the comfort of your own home.

Our respite care service has been designed to cater to a range of needs and can be turned around in as little as 24 hours or pre-booked in advance. As a live-in care provider, we don’t impose time limits on respite care and can seamlessly transition to full-time live-in care.

We provide live-in respite care for:

  • Supporting a safe and quick hospital discharge, allowing you to continue your recovery within the comfort of your own home
  • Trialling live-in care before committing to long-term live-in care
  • Sudden changes in your health that require live-in care support at short notice before transitioning to longer-term live-in care
  • Covering your existing caregiver during a period of illness or hospital treatment
  • Giving you or your caregiver a well-earned break and allowing for holidays

At VersaCare we have many years of experience providing respite care so do get in touch to see how we can help you.

Benefits of having respite care at home

Having respite care in your own home provides a multitude of benefits compared to day centres or temporarily moving into residential care. Receiving respite care in your own home allows for:

  • The comfort of familiar surroundings
  • A tailored care plan to your wants and needs
  • Reduced stress for family members knowing that their loved ones are safely in their own homes
  • Continuing your daily routines such as meeting friends for coffee, going out to the park and choosing your own mealtimes
  • Support no matter the time of day for increased peace of mind
    Mobility and rehabilitation support

What your caregiver will support you with

Your caregiver will help you with a range of everyday activities and tailor their level of help to the support you need. If there are tasks you’re comfortable with and able to do yourself your caregiver will give you the independence you need, but for tasks which require some support, they’ll be on hand to help. For example, you might not need any support making a cup of tea or getting yourself ready for the day but you’d like a hand with cooking meals and looking after your pets. At VersaCare our carers help support you with:

  • Cooking
  • Household cleaning
  • Medication management
  • Personal care
  • Support with mobility
  • Running errands and accompanying you to appointments
  • Companionship and activities

Arranging respite care with VersaCare

Arranging a respite carer through VersaCare is quick, simple and cost-effective. We have a wide network of carers so we can provide you or your loved one with respite care in as little as 24 hours,  which is vital in the case of emergency cover requirements, but the more lead time you can provide us with the more options we will have to provide the most suitable Care Worker.

  1. The first step is to get in contact with us, talk to one of our friendly team members on 0800 0087 661 or send us a message through our contact form.
  2. Once we have received your request we will start to find a caregiver and we will contact you once we have found someone that matches your or your loved one’s needs and personal preferences.
  3. Once we have matched you with a carer we will create a bespoke care plan around your needs and your respite care can begin immediately or booked in.

Respite care costs

Compared with temporary residential care or using day centres to provide respite care, our live-in care is more cost-effective than you think. Our current rates are £895 per week and are fully inclusive which can be £100’s cheaper than temporary residential care and offers complete peace of mind day and night. A minimum charge of a week is required so as to cover travel and other costs, which we pay our carers.

Support with funding

Carers assessment

If you provide care for your loved ones, either formally or informally, a carers assessment allows your local council to decide what extra support they can give you. If the council agrees to additional support this can include additional funding for respite care. You may be able to decide how the funds from your support plan are allocated in the form of direct payments or a personal budget. We work with a range of local councils and we understand the care funding system so we can guide you through the process and help you access the funding you’re entitled to.

Carers Trust grants

The Carers Trust offers grants to carers to provide respite care. To apply for this grant you will need to apply through your local Carers Trust service and they will help guide you through the process of applying from start to finish.

Charities

There are many charities across the UK that help support carers, especially unpaid carers such as family members and relatives, with access to respite care. Each charity works differently however they typically offer either grants, which are sums of money that don’t need to be paid back, or they offer support and advice. The Turn2Us website has a grant search feature that helps you find grants that you’re eligible for. Some charities that provide funds include:

We’ve worked with a number of charities in the past and are happy to support your application however we can.

Respite care testimonials

Our family has nothing but praise for Versacare. We have had live-in carers for nearly a year, and all have been conscientious. The office staff are really helpful and selected carers to meet the complex needs of my parents, and patiently sent us a number of carers until we found the one that was the most suited to my parents. My Dad had Parkinson's and his needs were fully met until he passed away last year. The care he received, especially in his last days, was wonderful. There was no interruption of care when he died, and now my Mum has the blessing of being in her own home, despite Alzheimer's, thanks to Versacare!

Charmaine

We would like to inform you of the excellent working practice Oti delivered yesterday. Oti was able to recognise a young person was struggling with his mental health. She stayed in communication with the Home Manager whilst closely monitoring the situation.

Oti's quick thinking and due diligence saved the young person from seriously harming himself. For this, we are very grateful as the outcome could have been very different.

Oti is a very competent worker. She excels in all areas but most of all the genuine interest and compassion she shows the young people. Please pass on our sincere appreciation to Oti.
